Shirley Nachtrieb uses an intriguing method of combining both traditional watercolor media with collage work to extend the visual surface. Shirley's artwork in this exhibition is earthy, organic and multimedia. She enjoys painting from nature then interpreting her images into collages using additional textures. She works experimentally, painting positive and negative shapes then adding embellishments. One of her latest passions is painting a series of grapevine collages which was inspired by a painting trip to France where she painted in the vineyards of Provence.  She paints vivid watermedia portraits and flowers and is always looking for a way to interpret what she sees in a more creative way.
