Judge’s Comments
Best of Show:
“Kane” Pencil Drawing by Kathy Gomric
Not only is this little piece technically sound, but it has great composition and a lot of emotion. You can almost feel this pup is touching the inside of the glass with its nose! I can’t stop looking at it!
First Place:
“Roses” Pastel Painting by Karen Miller
I really like the softness of this piece. The flowers are so well done but the highlight for me is the simplicity of the vase. The edge work is fantastic. Well done!
Second Place:
“Bumbershoots” Watercolor Batik by Linda Rawson
This piece is so playful. The composition is super. I like ho the artist orchestrated the lines and colors so the viewer is kept moving around the scene. The luminosity is perfect for the subject matter.
Third Place:
“Butterfly Symmetry” Photograph by Iren Mueller
Non-Manipulated photography is becoming a lost art. I was drawn to this photo immediately. I has a great composition and I really love how the values and softness of the background work.
