"When I was a child I loved to draw and paint. My Mother, an oil painter herself, started teaching me when I was about eight years old. Of course, being young I would just play, but she planted the creative seed. I am a self taught artist, but have been greatly inspired by my Mother, sister, and a good friend who has helped me in many ways. These mentors have been an important part of my artistic career. I love detail, as you can see in my work. Even though it can be stressful I love the challenge of getting it "just right". I also love the results of blending and burnishing the colors to produce amazing effects like light and shadow, texture, and dimension." ~ Artist Lisa Thomas
Artist Lisa Thomas creates predominently still life works, but she also does commissioned pet portraits and Celtic designs. The Celticartis, inspired by her families heritage, and of course, the detail of the complex design, satisfies her need for a good challenge. The pet portraits are a fun and unique way to "own" all the pets she ever wanted and couldn't have! All of the paintings in this collection are inspired both by her personal photographs, that she uses as reference material, and actual historical designs from the ancient Celts. Lisa Thomas finds her art is both satisfying and challenging at the same time, and says her life would be incomplete without this wonderful creative outlet!
