Artist's Statement
I have loved making art since I was a child. While I haven't taken an art class since high school, I have always enjoyed visiting museums and galleries. It was a chance encounter with The Austral Gallery (Australian Aboriginal Art) in 1988 that inspired me to explore pointillism as a way to express my creative side. I developed my own style of dots, using chopsticks and acrylic paint, but life intervened and I didn't paint with any regularity until 2013. Since then I have immersed myself in taking my work into other dimensions, like re-imagining thrift store finds as assemblage art. I also use photography, markers and ink to share my vision. My two life mentors who always encouraged me to pursue my art were Edward Boccia and John Wehmer.

I have exhibited my work at Framations, Foundry Art Centre, St. Charles Community College, St. Peters Cultural Art Center, Oak Leaf Artist Guild, Regional Arts Commission and the Soulard Art Gallery. I was voted "Favorite Artist" at the 2017 and 2018 New Town Art and Wine Stroll.
"Choosing Joy" is the theme of my first solo show. I read a quote by David Steindl-Rast that I have found to be very true, "Joy; the kind of happiness that doesn't depend on what happens." No matter what misfortune or heartache blindsided me, if I could keep my ember of joy glowing inside and find delight in simple things, I could make it through anything.
