As an artist, I started my journey in photography. For me, I feel this was a great place to begin because it taught me how to see everything with a new appreciation. From trees, to clouds to Architecture, I’ve learned to slow down and appreciate my surroundings much more fully. I eventually decided to start painting. This wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. After much study and practice and learning from my mistakes, I came to a place where things made more sense. Creating art is a struggle for many artists but it’s a struggle we live for.
My art is inspired mostly by the natural world and at times, my experiences. The natural inspirations typically come from the universe, trees, clouds, skyscapes and so much more. When inspired, it can send me on a journey to explore in an abstract or representational way. In life, we always have ups and downs. Sometimes I like to explore the feelings in dreamlike manner of what I’ve learned from these times. I hope in my art you find something you too can identify with. I get joy from creating my art and when a client tells me how much they enjoy something I’ve made in their space, it’s a full circle moment because I know it’s found a good home. ~ Christy Martin
