Missouri Fiber Artists has a motto, A Community Sharing the Love of Fiber. Fiber artists look for like minded people to share ideas, workshops and comradery. Another activity they love is to just sit and hand stitch together, like our ancestors have done for centuries. MoFA as members fondly call their organization, gives them that opportunity with annual conferences and retreats. Exhibits like this one give them the opportunity to display the lovely work they make.
Missouri Fiber Artists (MoFA) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to promote statewide communication among individuals and groups participating in all aspects of the fiber arts. Since 1978, we have been celebrating all of the fiber arts through our quarterly newsletter and bi-annual conference, retreat and regular membership exhibitions.
We are weavers, basket makers, spinners, knitters, quilters, paper makers, surface designers and more! While we have varying interests and levels of expertise, we all enthusiastically share the goal of promoting fiber artists in Missouri and surrounding states and increasing the public awareness of fiber art.
Membership is open to anyone interested in any of the fiber arts. Our membership includes professionals, amateurs, teachers and novices working in many different disciplines. For more information about membership, please contact the Membership Chair.
This exhibit is part of Innovations in Textiles 2019, a collaborative event presented Fall 2019 throughout the St. Louis region—including St. Louis County, St. Louis City, St. Charles, Columbia, Missouri, as well as Metro East and Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Innovations in Textiles STL 2019 (IT19) serves to enlighten the community with a unique aesthetic perspective on fiber art.
