About the Exhibit Theme:
In a society where the focus seems to be doing more, spending more, having more, at times we need to focus on calm and contentment. Perhaps you find peace in nature or in family. In music, or words. Be it an experience, place, or person, we ask you to share what brings you serenity, where or how you find your peace.
Juror: Nicole Dutton has a BA in psychology and an MFA with a specialty in painting. Directly after graduating, she began work in arts administration. First, as Associate Director of Chesterfield Arts, where she managed the public art program for the City of Chesterfield, arts education program, community outreach, and gallery exhibitions. After her years there, Nicole took post as the Curator for the Schmidt Art Center at Southwestern Illinois College, coordinating exhibitions with national and internationally-recognized artists, overseeing a permanent collection, arts education program, and specialty events. After nearly 15 years of non-profit curatorial experience, she has recently shifted to a role as an Art Project Manager for Spellman Brady & Company, a local interior design firm. There, she manages the art consultation department, procuring everything from small-scale prints to large-scale sculptural installations for healthcare, senior living, higher education, corporate and multifamily housing across the U.S. She has a passion for working with artists and values what the arts brings to each community.
